As a supporter of Literary Arts, you may wonder how your individual donation helps our cause. Donations impact our various programs and fellowships and they are fundamental to every aspect of achieving our goal.

Sixty percent of our total budget is from contributions. If it were not for your gifts, we would be half of what we are today.

Our programs reach readers and writers on many different levels and every single donation from $10 to $500 has a very definite impact.

Here are some examples of how your contribution helps:

  • $15 covers the postage and envelopes to mail awards to Oregon Literary Fellowship recipients.
  • $35 sends a box of poetry or books across the country to be judged for the Oregon Book Awards.
  • $45 supports an hour of one-on-one writing skills mentoring.
  • $75 sponsors one student for Writers in the Schools.
  • $100 would provide free copies of the Writers in the Schools Student Anthology to featured students, so they can see their work in print.
  • $1000 is enough to send a local writer into a Portland Public Schools classroom for a whole semester; or help an emerging Oregon writer fund the business of conducting research, completing a manuscript, and finding a publisher.

From providing books for Writers in the Schools students, to reserving hotels for touring authors, your donation ensures that Literary Arts can continue to bring literature and literacy to Oregon for another 25 years.
